On Sunday, 25th April 2021, a volunteer day of the LIFE Fluvial project promoted by the Association of Rural Development Mariñas-Betanzos took place. On this occasion, the organisation was supported by the Department of Public Works, Services, Environment and Civil Protection of the City Council of Carral, as well as “Brexa”, Association of Custody of the Territory of Carral.
The work carried out consisted of planting native species of riparian forest in a plot owned by the City Council of Carral on the banks of the river Brexa.
This action of dissemination and awareness-raising framed in LIFE Fluvial, is part of a series of activities scheduled during these days by the Biosphere Reserve Mariñas Coruñesas e Terras do Mandeo for the celebration of World Earth Day 2021.
Throughout the day, volunteers planted a total of fifty trees of the species birch (Betula pubescens), holly (Ilex aquifolium), false plane tree (Acer pseudoplatanus) and oak (Quercus robur). The plant material used, provided by the company TRAGSA, belongs to the LIFE Fluvial project itself.
