Volunteer action for the control and management of invasive alien plants in river corridors.

On 29/09/2021 in the morning (9:00 – 12:30) a volunteering action will take place at the PPLBSPA (Ponte de Lima, Portugal) for the control and management of invasive alien plants in river corridors, within the scope of the LIFE FLUVIAL project (LIFE16 NAT/ES/000771) and in collaboration with the Municipality of Ponte de Lima. Registration is compulsory (click here or via the link https://forms.gle/SDn4gckPxShCGwxD6) and the number of participants is limited to 20. Registered participants will be covered by a personal accident insurance.

The reception of the participants will take place at the Centro de Interpretação Ambiental das Lagoas de Bertiandos e São Pedro d’Arcos (Rua da Lagoa de São Pedro d’Arcos n.º 476, 4990-530 S. Pedro d’Arcos – Ponte de Lima, Portugal; Coordinates: 41.764529 / -8.642577 or 41°45’52.48 “N / 8°38’33.26 “W), where you can visit the exhibition of the LIFE FLUVIAL project. After a short walk to a project intervention area, a short on-site introduction to invasive alien species will be followed by the application of control and removal techniques.

NOTE: Also on 29/09/2021, a different but complementary activity for the Control of Invasive Plants will take place in the afternoon (14:00 – 17:30h) at the PPLBSPA within the scope of another project, in collaboration between the Municipality of Ponte de Lima, the Escola Agraria do Instituto Politécnico de Coimbra and the Centro de Ecologia Funcional/Universidade de Coimbra. Interested participants can also register for the afternoon activity.
